Championships from Lucas Sanchez (152) and Scotty Pittz (170) helped the Mineral Point wrestlers to a third placing at the Watertown Early Bird Scramble wrestlng tournment Saturday.

"A lot of the kids got their first test of a full day of wrestling at the varsity level," said Poiner coach Scott Schmitz. "Overall I thought we wrestled prety well. Scotty and Lucas both won championships and wrestled well. Brandon probably should've been in the otp two or threee, but met a kid from Illinos early that we didn't know much about and lost 5-3. All the freshmen wrestled pretty well and a lot of our varsity reserve placed and won matches."
"We still have a lot of things to work on," he added.
The Pointers face a tough SWAL test Friday night when they go to st ranked Riverdale. Then they are at the Dells Tournament Saturday.
