Dodgers team effort stops Pointers

Trent Jones scored a game-high 22 points and the Dodgeville boys basketball team handled neighboring Mineral Point 63-41 on non-conference play.
It was Jones' first game of the young season as he had been sidelined with a hand injury.
It wasn't all Jones though as 10 players scored and Bryce Prochaska popped in 13 markers in the post.
The Dodgers ran into some foul trouble in the first half and the bench players came in and helped work to a 37-22 lead at the intermission.
"I'm happy with the total team effort," said Dodger coach Matt McGraw. "The flow of the game was good. We controlled the pace. Our transition game was working and when it wasn't there our guys recognized it and ran their sets."
"We had a lot of guys step up when we had early foul trouble. They all took care of their jobs."
McGraw said he was impressed with his team's drives and post touches.
He also mentioned that Mineral Point's "Chance Wendhausen was a "nice player". He led the Pointers with 13 points.
Mineral Point coach Dan Burreson said, "Dodgeville is a very good basketbal team and having Jones back makes then better," said Mineral Point coach Dan Burreson. "They are one of those teams that can put five shooters on the floor at once and hurt you."
"Obviously they exposed some things we need to work on but we got good looks and did a good job taking care of the ball."
"Our team defense broke down a little which hurt."
"I thought Chance Wendhausen did a nice job at the point and penetrated well and Jack Warrick is settling into the post with 15 rebounds. Lance Steffes did well in his first start also."
At halftime, the co-op Dodgeville/Mineral Point championship girls track & field team was recognized.
