Along the Ad Routes

Woman's Club sponsored "Breakfast With Santa & Mrs. Claus" Saturday at
the Dodgeville Plymouth Congregational Church. There were plenty of
"Chefs" helping out, so I got a chance to take a lot of photos. I didn't do any
cooking - thank goodness or the over 200 eaters wouldn't have been very
happy! It's a good thing though that there are some "Straw Bosses" there
who knew what we should be doing. Santa and Mrs. Claus were busy with
the youngsters with every one of them receiving a gift bag of goodies. There
were a lot of homemade cookies too that I snuck every now and then when I
passed by them!

After I finished at the breakfast I made it out to (former Thym's) the Santa's
Secret Shop. The place was packed and they even had two people outside directing
traffic and helping get cars to parking places. This was definitely the
biggest crowd I had seen at that event. The workers inside had things very
organized with people waiting upstairs until their number was called. Then
they were escorted by volunteers downstairs without their parents. That made
it not that crowded downstairs at any one time. The Secret Shop is running
again this next Saturday from 8:30-1:30 in the same location north of
Dodgeville on Highway 23.

At the secret shop I noticed some pretty big bags of presents being carried
out by the smiling youngsters - and their parents weren't peeking into the
bags either!

While we're on Santa - I will be taking "Photos with Santa" this coming
Sunday from 1-2:30 p.m. at Cobblestone Coffee House inside Cobblestone
Court in Dodgeville. That's on the corners of North Iowa and East Chapel
Streets. You get your photo taken with Santa and get a little treat too. Your
photo price is a non-perishable food item or $1.00 all that will be given to
the Iowa County Food Pantry.

I suppose I should say something about the Packers win over the Lions last
Thursday. Teams practice that "Hail Mary" pass in practice and do get to use
it at times. Richard Rogers, who caught the "long bomb" was supposed to
block people out and someone else was suppose to catch it. But it's a good
thing that Rogers didn't do his right job this time!

Also it was a good thing that game wasn't played in a dome with a low roof
because the height that Aaron Rodgers got on the ball just may've hit the
ceiling!
*****
Oh, and I fell asleep before that last play of the game so had to read they
won in the paper early the next morning then watch the replays on my computer!

Sunday I went to the Iowa-Grant Drama Club's presentation of "A Christmas
Carol: Scrooge and Marley". They did a very good job with the production
with the actors hitting things just as I remember - of course I watch about
three different versions of that production on TV each year around this time!
The costumes were great too! Check out the above photo of Ebenezer with
the Ghost of Christmas Past.
