Dodge-Point soccer edges Prairie


Dodgeville-Mineral Point's boys soccer team fell behind 2-0, but then scored three unanswered goals for a 3-2 win over Prairie du Chien in their season opener.
The win was a SWC conference victory making them1-0 on the early season.
After Prairie scored on a penalty kick four minutes into the contest and put another one home at the 9:00 mark, they led 2-0.
Dodge-Point's Zach Nelson scored on an assist from Gerritt Bakker at the 39:00 mark to cut the Blackhawks' lead in half.
Shane Carroll took a pass from Nelson at the 68:00 mark to knot things at 2.
Bakker then won the contest at the 77:00 mark on a pass from Nelson.
Dodge-Point had 27 shots on the day.
Goalie Noah Goetze saved six of the eight shots he saw from Prairie.
"We got off to a really slow start," said Dodge-Point coach Kyle Glynn. "We regrouped at halftime and tried osme players in different spots. That helped us come back and we played well after that."
The Dodge-Point team hosts Platteville/Lancaster Thursday with a 7:00 varsity start.
