Klamath Falls not good hosts

Historic Kiger Staduum at Klamath Falls, Oregon could have been used to film one of the best baseball movies ever made--The Natural.
Sitting in the all wood seats in the stadium that held over 2000 people Monday for the World Series for Babe Ruth 16-18 players you could almost see Roy Hobbs hitting the Spalding baseball out the park.
But today the field not only is playing host to the 2015 World Series, it is also home field for the Klamath Falls host team. The team showed how comfortable home field can be when they rolled past Sauk/Dodgeville 11-0 Monday. The loss eliminated the Ohio Valley Regional champions from bracket play.
It was a lot Curt Bennett with a strong bit of Payton Poe, William Harris and Cade Parker mixed in.
Bennett, who earned Player of the Game for Klamath Falls, went the distance with an impressive performace which limited the Sauk/Dodgeville team to four hits. He struck out six and did not walk a better. Bennett was also ahead in the count most of the night with 20 first pitch strikes.
Poe answered the call with the bat with a performance that included 3x3 at the plate and three rbis. Poe was instrumental in a momentum turning six run sixth with two rbis on a single. S/D also added to the big frame with two hit batters and a walk, all with the bases loaded.
Williams drove in three runs and Parker added two more. Cody Dykstra and Hunter Rascia both had multiple hits as Dykstra was 2x2 and Rascia 2x4.
Sauk/Dodgeville tried to get on the board in the bottom of the seventh. Levi Nagel and Keith Kraemer both singled but Bennett ended the threat by striking out the side.
S/D also had some defensive problems with four errors, two which led to runs.
Conner Leister got the starting nod on the mound for S/D. He was holding Klamath Falls to a 1-0 lead after three innings but ran into problems in the big fourth. He went 3 1/3 innings with a pair of punchouts, three walks and seven hits and runs.
Cole Sullivan took over for the last 3 2/3. He fanned three, walked three and gave up three hits. He was touched for four runs, two earned.
Nagel, Kraemer, Leister and Adam Ballweg had a single each for the four S/D hits.
At award ceremonies after the game the Sauk/Dodgeville Player of the Game award went to centerfielder Levi Nagel.
