First World Series game a rough one for S/D


Sauk/Dodgeville took an early lead in their first game of the 16-18 Babe Ruth World Series but Mobile, Alabama came back with two big innings to set back the Ohio Valley Regional champs 7-1.
The game was played at historic Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
The lone Sauk/Dodgeville run came in the first when shortstop Elijah Jorgenson walked and later scored from second on a single by extra hitter Keith Kraemer. He had taken second on a ground out by Ben Lenerz.
First game jitters led to six errors in the game. Gunner Hendrix and Dayton Cook had rbi singles in a four run fourth that followed a three run third.
In the third Michael Farness had a two run double and Hendrix added an rbi single.
Sauk/Dodgeville had six hits with Grant Schlimgen leading with a 2x3 day at the plate.
The other hits came from Jorgenson, Lenerz, Kraemer and Jordan Olson.
Conner Leisters worked 3 and 2/3 innings for Sauk/Dodgeville and took the loss. He gave up six hits and seven runs, six earned. He walked five and struck out two.
Cole Sullivan came on for the final two and 1/3 innings. He gave up two hits while holding Mobile scoreless. He struck out one and walked one.
