Pointers solid in win over Bulldogs

Mineral Point jumped on Boscobel early and stayed with it for four innings to turn back the Bulldogs 12-0 in a SWAL game Monda.
RBIs by Gabe Ottoway and Alec Schmitz got the Pointers going in a three run first.
Four hits and an error put four runs on the board in the second. Tarek Oellerich slammed a two run double and Ottoway an rbi single to send the score to 7-0.
Five runs in the third were enough for the win. Hits by Zach Cummings, Dylan MacGilvra, Taylor Robinson, Staver, Turner Poad and Oellerich made it a seven hit frame. Staver and Poad both knocked in a couple runs.
Oellerich was 3x3 with a pair of doubles to lead the 14 hit attack. Staver, Schmitz, Ottoway and MacGilvra all went 2x3. Schmitz also had a double.
Ottoway pitched a complete game for the win. He fanned nine and gave up just one hit without walking a batter.
"We played well in all three phases today," coach Dan Burreson said. "Great effort by Gabe Ottoway only giving up one hit on the day and no walks or runs. Team effort at the plate. Tarek Oellerich had a good day going 3 x 3 with 2 doubles and 2 rbi's. Gabe Ottoway, Sy Staver, Alec Schmitz and Dylan MacGilvra all had 2 hits on the day. Sy drove in two runs as did Turner Poad who also scored 3 times. Alec also had a double and a rbi."
Burreson added it was another solid day by Staver defensively at short.
"Joey Dolphin continues to do a nice job behind the plate," Burreson said.
