Dodgers take care of Platteville

A six run second was enough and a five run fifth was even better to give the Dodgeville baseball team an 11-1 win over Platteville in SWC play Friday.
Brian Simmons and Cole Sullivan teamed up on the mound to pitch the win. The W went to Simmons who worked 4 1/3 innings, giving up four hits, one earned run while striking out three and walking none.
Sullivan went the final 2/3, coaxing two fly-outs.
After and error and a hit batter senior outfielder Caleb Grady singled to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead. Freshman outfielder Zack Weber singled in another run then after a fielders choice and an error Trent Jones and Simmons both had rbi singles.
The fifth saw five runs score to end the game by the 10 run rule. Sullivan drove in two runs with a single, Webber plated another with a sac fly and pinch hitter Jake Brokish singled for one more. Levi Nagel then got his second hit in three trips to end the game.
Nagel had a 2x3 day at the plate for the Dodgers. Jones, Simmons, Sullivan, Grady, Weber and Brokish all had one hit.
The win moved the Dodgers to 2-1 in SWC play.
