Dodge-Point soccer plays to tie

Dodgeville-Mineral Point and Galena soccer teams battled to a 1-1 tie Thursday at Harris Park in Dodgeville.
Shianne Carroll, with an assist from Makayna Lemanski, found the back of the net for Dodge-Point at the 44:23 point of the first half.
The Lady Pirates knotted it up midway in the second half on an unassisted goal by Carissa Williams.
Dodge-Point Katie Valeria was called up to make 11 saves while Galena's goalie, April Openberg, came up with six.
"Overall we played a lot better," said Dodge-Point coach Teela Heiring. "We displayed some nice team chemistry and had some really nice crosses and thru balls to our forwards. We also had some nice drop balls that opened up some holes and made some real nice connecting passes."
She added, Katie made a couple of really nice saves, including one off a penalty kick and another off a hand ball."
"Our defense - Ally Horton, Abby Thompson and Jenna Sersch - held the line and were able to feed our offense. Also, having Dani Wetter back from a head concussion helped our defense and freshman Haley Elsner had some nice crosses," Heiring concluded.
