west and approached the stoplight by Kwik Trip. The light was green so I
was able to turn right away, but there were about 12 cars turning left to head
towards Madison. Boy there must be a lot of people who commute to
Dodgeville to work at that side of town!

In the game of baseball they always say to keep your eye on the ball. The
other day I was at the Iowa-Grant-Platteville baseball game and there was a
foul fly ball hit just out of play on the first base side. The ball came down
and hit the bleachers where fans were sitting. There was a youngster sitting
and not watching game. He was on his phone probably texting, but bent down
luckily and the ball went over his head. If he would've been sitting up straight
and not watching the game (like he was) it would've plunked him pretty hard.

Here's my driving story for the week. Sunday I was heading to church
going about 23 MPH on Iowa (the main) Street. When I was just about to
the Wells Fargo Bank/Paint Plus corner (Fountain Street) a fellow decided
not to come to a complete stop at his stop sign and pulled right out in front
of me. It's a good thing my "old" reaction time is still pretty good as I managed
to slow down enough to not run into the drivers side of his vehicle!

I made it to the Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Championships Saturday at Harris
Park. It was a good thing it was on Saturday and not Sunday as even the
parking lot at Hidden Valley Church (across the road) was filled to its brim
- as was the lot at Harris Park along with the lot below and the streets! It's
really tough to estimate how many people attended as they come and go all
day long (11-4). All I could figure is that some 2500 had to be there. There
were some great vendors and those with VIP cards got to sample what the
contestants prepared (see photo above). I handed my VIP card off to Taylor
Bowser, Iowa County Fairest of the Fair for 2015. She was there helping
hand out awards and talking with people. I did also get a chance to chat with
the current Alice in Dairyland Zoe Brooks - who is from Waupaca. She was
tremendously fun to talk with as was Taylor!

There were a few "local" contestants in the youth division of the grilled
cheese competition. With local ties, in the regular divisions, were two
Dodgeville High School graduates - Annette Hallada and Fred Minderman,
who were with Maple Leaf Cheese in Monroe. They were even prom and/or
homecoming royalty at DHS back in the day! They didn't win any first
prizes, but came close and said "next year" - maybe they are affiliated with
the Chicago Cubs organization!

We surely couldn't complain about the weather last week, except for maybe
wanting it to rain and it didn't! We are supposed to get some moisture and
it's supposed to cool down this week though. Saturday (some starting on
Thursday) will be the Dodgeville City Wide Garage Sales and it's also both
Dodgeville's and Mineral Point's prom. Temperatures are supposed to warm
up by Saturday and be mostly sunny with temperatures near 70 degrees!

I checked the weather on the computer at 3:00 p.m. Sunday and it said the
high for that day was supposed to be 69 degrees, but it listed the temperature
at 74 degrees at that time. Boy to be a PAID weatherman!
