Pointers down Fennimore, go 1-2 in Orangeville
A two run single by Carlie Qualley, a two run triple by Meghan Blume and a sac fly by Destinee Kruser did the damage for the Pointers.
Blume had two hits in the game for the Pointers.
Savannah Lawinger hurled the win with two runs over the seven innings. Both runs came in the fourth.
Lawinger fanned five, walked one and limited the Eagles to four hits.
A run in the first got the Pointers untracked. Clara Chambers started it with a single, advanced on a passed ball and later scored.
A fifth inning run came on an rbi single by Chambers that scored Elise Ames.
Ames was 2x3 for the Pointers while Chambers and Blume went 2x4.
In a tournament in Orangeville, Ill last weekend the Pointers came away with a 1-2 record.
They lost 15-4 to Lena Winslow as the winners had a 14-6 edge in hits
Jenna Pilling and Rebekah Ottoway had rbi singles in a four run second.
But that was the last of the scoring for the Pointers.
The Pointers had a brief 2-1 lead over Beloit Memorial in the bottom of the first but then had to settle for an 11-2 loss. The Pointers could only manage two hits in the game, one a two run double by Kruser in the first.
In their win the Pointers used a 12 hit attack to take apart Rockford Auburn 15-0.
They put a 10 spot on the board in the first and added five in the second of the five inning route.
Ames and Alyana McCarville combined to pitch the win.
Ames went three innings, fanning four and walking two.
McCarville went two frames and struck out one.
Kruser, Pilling, Qualley and Blume all had two hits for Mineral Point. Kruser and Kayla Lindholm both homered. Lindholm's was a solo shot while Kruser had a three run blast.
Qualley and Blume both drove in runs in the first as did Ottoway and Pilling.
