Cards score in bottom of seventh to win

On a warm spring night you'd think it was made for hitting. Wrong.
Highland and Cassville were locked in a pitchers dual in SWC baseball play and it wasn't decided until the bottom of the seventh.
The host Cardinals came away victorious 4-3.
The Comets scored in the first and Highland answered in the second.
They both scored in the fifth and Cassville took the lead in the top of the seventh. That came when Colton Reynolds (2x2) singled, stole second and scored when the Cardinals tried to turn a game-ending double play with the ball getting away from the first baseman.
In the seventh Highland's Adam Wolfe singled, stole second and went to third on an Evan Rusch bunt that he was safe on. Rusch immediatly stole second and Nate Robinson singled Wolfe in. Rusch scored the gamewinner on a grounder to second by Nate Michek when he slid in under the tag at home.
Besides Reynolds being 2x2 for the Comets, Cam Jensen was 2x4. That totaled four of their seven safeties.
Austin Yager was 2x3 to lead the six-hit Cardinal attack.
Yager started on the mound for the Cards. He went four frames alowing one earned run on five hits while fanning six with three walks.
JR Linscheid went the final three and got the win. He struck out five, walked three and gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits.
Hunter Nix went the first four for Cassville. He didn't allow an earned run but gave up two runs on four hits while fanning four and walking one.
Jensen took the loss going the final two frames. He gave up two earned runs on two hits while walking one and striking out five.
"It was a beautiful night to hit, but it turned out to be a beautiful night to pitch,' said Highland coach Terry Cool.
"Adam Wolfe had a nice night for us stealing two bases and scoring twice," he pointed out.
The Cardinals travel to Monticello for a doubleheader Friday.
