Cardinals finally hit the "Wall"

Highland's softball team was wondering what they had to do to solve the pitching they were seeing from Seneca senior Morgan Wall when they played Seneca Tuesday.
Wall threw shutout ball at the Cardinals through four innings and sent 10 back to the bench with strikeouts.
The Indians had taken a 1-0 lead in the second when senior shortstop Taylor Redman greeted a pitch from Bailee Rose for a triple. She then scored on a ground out by freshman Haley Wall.
But Morgan Wall's dominance ended in the fifth when the Cardinals exploded for a dozen runs and went on to claim a 12-1 win in the non-conference game.
After the Cardinals loaded the bases in the fifth Karen McMannes sent the run that tied the game home via a walk. Rose also walked and Brenna Bomkamp stroked a two run single to bust the game open. Three more runs scored on overthrows.
Haley Wall finished the game for Seneca, giving up eight runs, three hits and three walks.
Morgan Wall ended up fanning 10, walking four and giving up three hits.
"We were a little flat at the start and Wall was throwing pretty well," assistant coach Rick McMannes said.
Then when the wake-up call came for the Cardinals it did so with full force.
Rose finished with a one-hitter. She struck out five and walked one.
The win moved the Cardinals to 2-0 following a 24-0 route of North Crawford the day before.
Rose, Karen McMannes and Jessica Kosharek all got some mound work in.
Highland had 10 hits and took advantage of 19 walks to cruise to the win.
Sophomore rightfielder Brittany Mueller tripled for the Cardinals while Caitlin Wienkes went 2x3 and McMannes 2x4.
