Iowa-Grant coach Corey McCracken said about the meet: "Saturday was great day weather wise with the cooler temps helping many of our runners PR.
The girls team saw improvement in times from Cashton the week before.
Unfortunately we lost our fifth and final runner to a knee injury during their race. First year runner Angela Melby finished first on the team with a 19:08. Julie Cockroft finished 2nd on our team while cutting over a minute off last year's race at Darlington.
The boys team improved to 7th place from a previous years finish of 9th. I was proud of the effort despite missing one of our top runners, Creighton Biddick. Jacob Soman knocked 4 minutes off of last year's Darlington times along with many JV runners who saw two and 3 minute improvements over last week. Our JV runners are starting get their legs under them. One such runner is Wyatt Reeves who was previously a middle school short distance runner. He is transitioning well to distance and is pushing hard for a varsity spot. Next up we host a tri meet with Cassville and CC/SW on Thursday."
