Nowak's two scores sink Boscobel

Iowa-Grant's football team had a big night against Boscobel everywhere but on the scoreboard.
But with a 323 to 116 difference in total yards and a 58 to 39 difference in plays run it was just a matter of time before the Panthers put the Bulldogs away in the SWAL finale for both teams.
Luke Nowak took care of the touchdowns in the 14-0 Panther win. He got in on a three yard run at the 4:47 mark of the first quarter then finished it with a nine yard run in the fourth frame with 8:13 left in the game.
Isaac Anderson passed to Trent Millken for the two point conversion,
For Nowak it was a fitting cap to a dominating season in the SWAL. He scored his 19th and 20th touchdowns of the regular season and gained 166 yards on 28 tries. That put him at 1616 yards for the season.
The win earned the Panthers a berth in the post season playoffs in WIAA Division 6 and sends them to a familiar place to open the tournament trail Friday. The Panthers are seeded #6 and will play at #3 Cuba City, a team they lost to 28-14 in the regular season.
There are only a couple strangers in the rest of the bracket as it contains four SWAL and one from the Six Rivers among the eight team field.
#8 Racine Lutheran is at #1 Darlington at 2 pm Saturday.
#5 Deerfield hosts #4 Mineral Point.
#6 Iowa-Grant is at #3 Cuba City.
#7 Pec-Argyle is at #2 Lake Country Lutheran.
"We know each other pretty well," said Panther coach Gary Allen. "The last game was close but Cuba City controlled the fourth quarter and won. We will need to play well for four quarters."
Last Friday the ball control offense paid off for the Panthers but Ryan was not happy with some of the finishes.
"Although the score didn't reflect it we were able to move the ball and get first downs," he said. "We just stalled in the red zone."
The Panthers had a 22-15 edge in first downs.
The passing game was challenged by a tough Boscobel defense as Anderson was only able to make good on six of 15 for 52 yards.
"Boscobel played our passing game well and we had a few break downs," Allen said.
The Bulldogs also spent the night using different defensive sets in an attempt to slow the Panthers.
"Boscobel played very hard and showed us several different looks against our offense. We were able to move the ball but didnt punch it in when we got close," Allen said.
The Panthers were also slowed by mistakes and finishing problems.
"We had a couple turnovers and turned it over on downs a few time in their territory," Allen said.
"Defensively we played well," Allen added. "Our tackling was good and we didn't give up any big plays. "
Game time Friday is 7 p.m.
