Along the Ad Routes

Thursday night I went to the Highland/Cassville volleyball match and got
home fairly early. I turned on TV and the station that was on was TNT network.
Showing was an episode of "Castle", a program I do like to watch
now and then. At commercial time I switched over to USA network.
Showing there was an episode of "NCIS", another program I like to watch
when I can. I noticed the title of the episode of NCIS that was showing said
"Dressed to Kill". I thought that title looked familiar so I switched back to
the Castle episode and that one was also titled "Dressed to Kill". I realize it
may not be uncommon for programs to have the same title for an episode,
but what are the chances of those two episodes showing at the exact same
time on the exact same night, especially when I happen to be watching?

The Dodgeville Lions Club recently completed another shelter project
that can be found at one of the many parks in town. Here, at Harris Park
near the volleyball/basketball courts. Members constructed a small shelter
for people to be able to sit at and watch their kids play and have a snack
while doing so. Lions shown above (l-r) are Dave Smith, Bob Kratochwill
and Terry Carroll.

There was a lot going on in Highland again this past weekend as it was
homecoming week. They always have a great parade with their bands performing
and a great number of floats by "classes from the past" along with
the current ones in school. There are a lot of class get togethers and parties
going on. The football game didn't fare to well for the home team, but it was
a beautiful fall day! Also, Spurgeon Vineyards held an open house on
Saturday and Sunday to add to the excitement in the area!

Sunday night brother Patrick and I went to Rex's Innkeeper in Waunakee
to the annual Home Talent League Banquet. Rex's is pretty centrally located
among the sections of the league so it is a great location to hold it and
the food is alway great! The number of teams in the league is approaching
50. With nearly 300 people attending the banquet and a lot of awards given
out, Pat (as MC) kept things rolling along pretty fast and we were done in
good time. The little "berg" of Ashton had around 130 people there - they
must not of had anyone left in town to turn the lights on and off!

It's always good to see former Hollandale and Mineral Point graduate
Jerry Murphy. He tells me that he reads every word in the Democrat Tribune
and then swaps for the Chronicle with his neighbor. Jerry has been a longtime
home talent supporter and threw out the first pitch a few years back at
the All Star game at Mallards Park.

The annual Dodgeville "downtown" Halloween Party is scheduled for
Saturday, October 25th. It's a lot of fun, something you won't want to miss!
