Ice Wolves Squirt Black opens season
Gone from the team this year are some fine skaters, but in turn have some skaters ready to fill their spots.
The game started with a goal by the Ice Wolves in the first period by Chuck Tremelling, assisted by Dalen Rickard. The 1st period ended Wolves up one to zip.
The 2nd period was started by the Beloit Blades with a goal, but the Wolves regained the lead just a minute later by a breakaway by Rickard and Tremelling, goal to Rickard with assist by Tremelling. Unfortunately this started a back and forth battle to end the 2nd period with goals by Ice Wolf Porter Kreul on a break away end to end, and another goal by Tremelling, assisted by Rickard, leaving the score 4 to 2 Wolves up.
The 3rd period was the same as the second with the two teams battling back and forth. The Wolves goal came from Rickard, assisted by Tremelling. The Blades scored the next three goals tieing the game up 5 to 5 with a little over 2 minutes left.
The game came to an end with the last shot on goal coming with .8 left on the clock. Fortunately for the Wolves it went in without question. The assist for the game winning goal went to defenseman Joren Forseth working the corners to pull the puck out and get a centering pass to Tremelling to knock it in for the win. That concluded the game as the clock was cleared with only the score of 6-5 showing.
Wolves goalie Blake Peterson recorded 15 saves in the game.
Upcoming games this weekend will be Saturday in Madison vs. the Patriots, with their first home game Sunday at 8:30 vs. the Polar Caps from Madison.
There is no charge and the concession stand is open for a treat to watch the many fine teams of boys and girls playing a sport they love.
