Panthers to meet Pointers Thursday

It was a nailbiter from the first pitch to the last and a wild pitch eventually decided it.
Iowa-Grant's softball team survived a scare from Boscobel and advanced to a date with Mineral Point today by turning back the Lady Bulldogs 3-2 in eight innings.
With one out in the eighth Ashley Liddicoat walked and gave way to pinch runner Emma Liddicoat. Brea Stanton then took a swing and topped the ball that got Liddicoat to third. She then ran on a wild pitch and crossed the plate standing up.
The Panthers wasted no time getting a lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. Brittanie Lawinger singled, stole second and took third on a slap by Shania Sarbacker. Taylor Jackson singled for a run and with two outs Ashley Liddicoat doubled her in.
Boscobel tied it in the fifth with two singles a sac bunt and an error.
Stanton went the distance, fanning three and walking none. Only one of the runs off her was earned.
Jackson was 2x4 to lead the Panthers and Ashley Liddicoat doubled.
Anna Johnson worked all eight for Boscobel. She fanned seven and walked two while giving up two earned runs.
"A win is a win and that is what matters," said coach Deanna Fulton. "We have to hit better and put up some runs early."
