Dodge-Point girls win SWC, Nelson breaks mark, boys 2nd


Dodgeville-Mineral Point girls won and the boys finished second last week in the SWC conference track and field meet held at Platteville.
The girls won amassing 219 points to runner-up Platteville's 183.
The other team scores were: River Valley 100, Lancaster 89, Prairie du Chien 64 and Richland Center 22.
Taylor Stanek won two individual events and one relay while Hannah Owens won a pair of events and Brittany Rhyner won an event plus ran on two winning relay teams.
Mary Hanson also won as did Melissa Seman.
Stanek, the defending D2 state high jump champion, won her specialty with a leap of 5'4", She also won the 300 hurdles in 50.81 with teammte Lizzy Doolittle 3rd in 54.02.
Owens won the 1600 in 5:27.94 and the D-P team completed a 1-2-3 sweep in that event when Anna Eisenzimmer took 2nd .03 behind her and McKenzie Hall finished 3rd in 5:43.2.
Owens repeated in the 3200 in 11:32.3, topping Eisenzimmer again as she was 2nd in 12:02.02.
Rhyner won the 800 in 2:31.37 and another 1-2-3 sweep took place when Kennedy Stumpf finished 2nd in 2:31.86 with Mary Hanson taking 3rd in 2:31.93 - all three finishing in within about 1/2 second of each other..
Hanson completed the distance domination when she won the 400 in 59.83. Teammate Mikaela Bakker was 3rd in 1:02.75.
Rounding out the winners was Melissa Seman with a 104'4" discus throw. Teammate Bri Johnsrud was 3rd at 101'1".
The 4x100 relay team of Marissa Parkin, Stanek, Sydney Staaver and Jalissa Weier won in 51.26 as did the 4x400 team of Bakker, Staver, Stumpf and Rhyner in 4:10.88.
The 4x800 team of Mariah Zoet, Emily Philipps, Stumpf and Rhyner won in 10:09.28 and the 4x100 team of Alexa Bohnsack, Jaynie Gorgen, Jaci Runde and Weier took second in 53.79.
Other DP finishes were: 100-Gorgen 2nd 13.33, Runde 7th 14.16; 2200-Parkin 3rd 28.88, Sarah Lawinger 9th 29.93; 100 hurdles-Megan Pluemer 2nd 17.93, Natalie Chubb 4th 18.48, Claire Binsfeld 6th 18.99; long jump-Staver 3rd 15'8"; triple jump-Bohnsack 2nd 32'3", Mikalah Enright 5th 31'5"; shot put-Johnsrud 6th 29'.
The Dodge-Point boys lost the top spot to Platteville 209-163.
The other team scores were: River Valley 134, Lancaster 95, Prairie du Chien 58 and Richland Center 19.
Chanler Leonard won both the long jump and the triple jump with efforts of 21'2.5" and 42'. Ryan Raess took 5th in the long jump at 20'1/2" with Joshua Swanson 8th at 18'1.5".
Jonah Nelson won the 1600 at 4:28.77, eclipsing the 2002 mark set by Dodge-Point's Tommy Schmitz of 4:29.9.
In that same race, Marcus Ellerman took 3rd in 4:39.14.
River Valley's Alec Bass was 2nd in 4:29.37, also topping Schmitz's mark.
Ellerman was a winner in the 800 with a time of 2:02.03, this time topping Nelson's 2:02.18 time. Tyler Wunnicke was 6th in 2;10.45.
