Ames fans 15 in win over Boscobel


The  Pointers were unable to finish their doubleheader with Boscobel Tuesday but they did pick up an important win in there chase for the SWAL crown with Riverdale.
The Pointers got a 15 strikeout performance from Tannler Ames and beat the Bulldogs 8-3
"It was a great effort by Tannler Ames tonight who was a little under the weather," said coach Dan Burreson. "He was sharp all night."
Boscobel finally solved what Ames was throwing in the sixth inning when they got to him for three runs. He walked two and hit two in the frame while throwing a pair of wild pitches. There were also two hits in the inning.
The Pointers pounded out 13 hits to send in their eight runs. Turner Poad, who was 2x4, and Gabe Ottoway who had the same total both singled in runs in the first.
Poad reached on a fielders choice in the third and scored on a ground out.
Tarek Oellerich, who was 3x4, singled with two outs in the fourth, stole second and scored on a single by Sy Staver who was 2x4 for the game.
A three run triple by Poad and an rbi single by Joey Gorgen, who was 2x4, accounted for the runs in a four run sixth.
Dakota James and Ames had the other two Pointer hits.
"It was a great team effort at the plate," Burreson said. "We are swinging the bat well as a team right now."
The Pointers have games to finish with Boscobel and Iowa-Grant and must have a Riverdale loss figure into the mix to have a chance to tie the Chieftains for the SWAL crown.
