"Jonah ran an outstanding 4:26.55 to break future UW Badger, Tyson Miehe's 1600 meter record of 4:27.61," said Dodge-Point coach Joe Hanson. "Jonah ran a very smart race and was rewarded with a new meet record."
"Hannah Owens set a quick pace from the start as only teammate Anna Eisenzimmer stayed with her. By the end of eight laps she had a 13 second victory and a new meet record of 11:10.18," he added.
"The coaching staff uses this meet, the Sparky, as a sort of starting point to the championship part of the season for track and field. With 25 teams and excellent competition in nearly every event, it simulates what our athletes will be facing at the regional and sectional meets just weeks away," Hanson pointed out.
"And, as in the past, our kids stepped up and competed well". "I believe this may be the first time both teams have come home with the championship plaques, the entire coaching staff is content with the results and where our athletes are right now," Hanson concluded.
