Iowa-Grant softball claims SWAL title with big win over Southwestern
Stanton struck out five without a walk and scattered seven Wildcat safeties.
She allowed a single run in the first and a pair in the sixth
Her team scored once in the first, three times in the third, once in the fourth and eight times in the sixth.
Stanton also was 2x2 with three runs batted in, including a big two-out two rbi single to cap a three-run third that gave her team the lead for good.
Brittany Lawinger was 3x4 with a double on the day for I-G as was Shannia Sarbacker.
Taylor Jackson drove in two runs wiht a double and single and was 2x2.
Hannah Stevens was 2x3 and Kylie Moneypenny drove in a pair of runs.
Madison Kuhl struck out seven and walked five while allowing 14 hits to the Panthers.
Kuhl also was 2x3 with teammatee Karissa Doyle 2x3 with a double.
"Brea threw well and had a big two-out hit to give us a comfortable lead at 4-1 in the fourth," said Iowa-Grant coach Deanna Fulton.
The Panthers have a bye this Thursday in the first round of WIAA Divisin 3 tournament play. They take on the Boscobel-Cassville/River Ridge winner Tuesday.
