Panthers trim Redbirds twice
Thursday the Panthers topped the Redbirds in five innings 15-3 behind a 12 hit attack that featured home runs by Hannah Stevens and Ashley Liddicoat. Stevens had a solo shot while Liddicoat had a two run blast to highlight a six run third.
Liddicoat also had an rbi single and winning pitcher Brea Stanton an rbi double in the third which moved the score to 9-3.
A six run fourth allowed the Panthers to end the game in five. Brittanie Lawinger started it with a double and Kaci Meyers knocked her in with a single. Taylor Jackson walked and came home on a hit by Kylie Moneypenny. Taylor Liddicoat plated a run with a single and Stanton sent one in with a fielders choice.
Lawinger and Myers were 2x3 with Lawinger getting a double and Meyers and rbi. Moneypenny was 2x2 with a run batted in. Ashley Liddicoat was 2x2 with a round tripper. Rheann Engelke had a pair of rbis on ground outs to the right side and Stanton had a double.
Moria Wiegel, Taylor Cox and Payton Ray all were 2x3 for the Redbirds. Cox had a double.
Stanton went four innings, fanned eight, walked one and gave up six hits. Darlington's three runs in the third off her were unearned.
Lawinger worked the fifth and struck out one.
Last Tuesday the Panthers tamed the Redbirds 10-3.
Stanton went the distance, giving up six hits and one earned run, with seven walks and 11 strikeouts.
The Redbirds had eight errors which accounted for most of the runs.
Lawinger and Ashley Liddicoat were 2x4 while Meyers was 2x3 and Taylor Liddicoat 2x2. Meyers, Ashley Liddicoat and Moneypenny had doubles with Stevens adding a triple.
A four run seventh put the game away. Meyers led off with a double, Jackson reached on an error and Ashley Liddicoat doubled in two runs. Stanton singled and Stevens cleared the bases with a triple.
