Knights hurlers blank MHPB
While Klais was setting MHPB down in his seven innings of work and Pierick doing the same in his one frame, the Knights were coming up with a dozen hits and making the plays on defense.
Bradley Simmons had a perfect day at the plate with a 4x4 performance. Ian Streeter was 3x5 while Mark Ludwig and Bill Hellmann were 2x4.
Jay Lindner and Pierick had one hit each.
Simmons had two rbis. He singled in Lindner who had walked and moved up on Ludwig's bunt in the fourth for the first Knights run. He than sent in a run in a four run sixth with a sac fly to left. Streeter also knocked in a run in the same frame.
Hellmann drove in a run with a single in a four run seventh and Tony DeMuth plated one on a bases loaded walk.
Chris Clerkin made it 10-0 in the ninth when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The game was called after 8 1/2 due to rain.
Klais struck out four and walked three as he spaced seven hits. Pierick fanned two, walked two and gave up a hit in his one inning of work.
The Knights host Black Earth tonight (May 15) to open the Night League season. They host Hollandale Sunday.
