Dodgers 2nd, RV 3rd in SWC golf


Dodgeville's golf team finished two strokes behind winning Lancaster Friday at Prairie du Chien Country Club in SWC golf.
The Arrows totatled 166 on the day with Dodgeville at 168.
Third went to River Valley with 172 while Platteville shot 185, Prairie 195 and Richland Center competed with an incomplete team.
Lancaster's Zach Hentrich fired an even par 36 to take medalist honors with Dodgeville Chapin Orr runner-up at 39.
The rest of Dodgeville total came from a 41 by Nate Hottmann, a 43 by Ben Lacke and a 45 from Steven Stadler. Cole Anderson shot 54 as the fifth score.
Graham Westley had a 40 to pace River Valley with Anders Wermuth in at 42, Haydn Ring with a 44, Alex Wedige with 46 and Derek Wedige at 47.
River Valley won the JV meet at 192 with Dodgeville again runner-up with 195.
Then came Platteville 229, Prairie du Chien 235, Lancaster 247 and Richland Center 274.
River Valley's JV total came from Alex Shifflet 46, James Frank 47, Casey Hopkins 48 and Jared Goers 51.
Graham Dalsing led the Dodgers with a 46 while Dalton Nohns fired a 48.
Michael Mackinnon had 49 with Riley Berning and Aaron  Clerkin both shooting 52.
"We continue to play well in conference early in the season. We were hoping to be right there with Lancaster and River Valley and we are," said Dodger coach Jeff Bradley.
"Chapin Orr continues to play well. Ben Lacke had his personal best round of 43 and Nate Hottmann's 41 was a good round in windy conditions at Prairie," he added.
Monday the Dodgers shot 417 at the Geneva National Invitational held at Grand Geneva, par 72.
Waterford won the meet with 351. Lancaster shot 364 and Platteville 417.
Scores for the Dodgers were: Orr 88, Stadler 105, Hottmann 105 and Lacke 119.
Lancaster's Zach Hentrich was 9th low with an 84.
