Along The Ad Routes

Above is a photo of a group of the team going through one of the pre-game drills at La Crosse.

Saturday night, in the D5 sectional final at La Crosse, the Barneveld team got to the point in the fourth quarter of their game with Gilmanton to have a continuous clock (40 point lead). They have quite the team and we wish them all the good fortune at state! We'll be right there with them too!

The other day I was listening to ESPN radio and one of the announcers was talking about his home life with a pregnant wife, young child and a dog. He said when the first born was a baby, the dog was very protective to it in the crib and when it began crawling and walking. Now that his wife is expecting again the dog is going wild as it knows there is something up with the wife. It senses that there will be another baby coming along for it to watch over. And some people wonder why families treat their pets like one of their kids!

We've had a great change in the weather lately. The forecast for this week looks to be hitting 50 with a lot of the days being in the mid to high 30's up to 52. There could be a little snow in the mix, but not enough to bother anything. That's good because a lot of the "Snowbirds" will be heading back to the area pretty soon if they haven't already.

The UWâBadgers men's basketball team "dogged out" Saturday in the Big 10 tournament to Michigan State. They scare me a lot because they go through shooting lulls that you just can't do in the NCAA tournament. The competition is just too good to have such poor shooting times. Maybe they will be able to put it all together in the NCAA tournament and get to the "FINALâ4" like they did a few years back - but then they basically did it with defense, something they have been lacking a lot of the time more recently this season!

An update on brother Pat - he's getting along with his knee replacement pretty well. He's using a cane instead of a walker and even was pretty proud of himself when he carried a box filled with newspapers several feet from one spot of the office to another without using the cane!

I'm starting to look for a 2 bedroom "furnished" house or apartment during the month of July of this summer for my cousin Jeanette, her husband, daughter and granddaughter to rent while they come to the area to visit. They would prefer to be in Dodgeville, but Mineral Point would work okay too. I know that most people from this area only leave during the winter, but hopefully someone will have a spot for them. They really don't want to put any of the relatives out for that length of time. If they can't find anything, they will cut their stay short and only stay a week or so and we want them around longer than that! Give me a call at the Chronicle 935-2331 or my cell phone 553-0887.
