Thanks for the smile, Pecatonica

By Brooke Bechen-bbechen@thedodgevillechronicle.com

Last week I watched a special video on YouTube that was made by students and staff in the Pecatonica School District. They had created the fun video for a fellow classmate, Jaden, who has been battling kidney cancer.
The YouTube video has been viewed nearly 15,000 times and can be watched at:

"Hi Jaden! We have a special message for you..." a description before the video starts explains. A student then tells a joke and gives a "get well wish" to Jaden before the music and dancing begins.
The whole school came together to produce the video of teachers and kids alike dancing and being "happy," the name of the song playing during the video. It can only be imagined that they made the video to put a smile on a friend's face that might have needed a little cheering up. (They do say good friends are the best medicine.)
The way the students and staff at the school came together to show someone that they cared has stuck with me for days. Whenever I hear the song "Happy" on the radio, I immediately think of Jaden and his friends at Pecatonica and it brings a smile to my own face.
How can you put a smile on someone's face today?
