Knights play some giveaway in loss
The 6-4 right hander was part of the Madison College D2 NJCAA team that finished third in the recent World Series. Pleimling was primarily a closer for the Wolfpack.
The Blanchardville Bullets could not have been happier for his return and they celebrated it in fine style with a 10-5 win over the Dodgeville Knights Sunday.
Plemling got the start and worked seven innings, earning the win when Justin Bollerud shut out the Knights the final two frames. Plemling struck out seven and walked four while giving up seven hits and five runs of which four were earned.
Bollerud also had a good day for the Bullets with six strikeouts and two walks in a hitless two inning relief chore.
Blanchardville jumped out to a 4-0 lead after scoring twice in the first and second frames. Bollerud drove in a pair in the first with a two run single and rbi singles by Milt Kurschner and Plemling accounted for the two runs in the second.
Matt Brown's sac fly plated Mark Ludwig in the fourth to get the Knights on the board.
They added another in the fifth when Kellen Murphy singled, stole second and came home on a single by Brad Simmons.
The Knights scored three more in the seventh when Murphy raced in from third on an errant pickoff play and Ludwig came up with a two run single.
The Bullets put six runs on the board from the fifth on--one in the fifth, two in the seventh, one in the eighth and two in the ninth--with five of them unearned. The Knights had five costly errors that kept things going for the visitors.
The two teams combined for 21 hits--all singles--with Blanchard-ville getting 14 and the Knights seven.
Trevor Theobald and Kurschner were both 2x6. Pleimling and Bollerud had 3x4 games.
Murphy was 3x4 for Dodgeville's main threat. Simmons, Tanner Solberg and Danny Sullivan all had one hit.
Nic Pierick took the loss, working four frames, fanning four, walking three and giving up nine hits along with four earned runs.
Simmons fanned four, walked three and was touched for five hits. The Bullets scored six while he was in there with only one earned.
The Knights travel to Black Earth Thursday then host Oregon Sunday.
