Orr is medalist, RV wins regional
Orr had rounds of 34-36 and topped runner-up Graham Westley, River Valley (36-36-72), by two strokes.
The RV team had consistent round in the 70s from their first three players to total 303. After Westley's 72 came Ander Wermuth's 74 and Alex Wedige at 75. Derek Wedige hit 82 while James Frank had an 85.
The runner-up team was Mount Horeb with a 311.
Dodgeville posted a 322 with the rest of their rounds led by a 39-38-77 from Steven Stadler (7th lowest on the day). Nate Hottmann fired a 38-46-84 while Ben Lacke had 45-46-91 and Michael Clerkin hit 43-48-91.
Platteville finished fourth as a team with 340 and was the final team to qualify for the River Valley Sectional.
The rest of the team scores were: Viroqua/North Crawford 350, Prairie du Chien 357, Westby 378 and Mauston 411.
The top four individuals, not from qualifying teams, going on are: Prairie's Dan Adamany 81 and Nate Stram 84 along with Viroqua/North Crawford's Joel Ellefson 83 and Trevor Bolstad 84.
"We played well as a team," said Dodger coach Jeff Bradley. "We were the third seed going into the regionals so I hoped we would advance, but I am glad we advanced by playing as well as we did. A team score of 322 is one of the lowest a Dodgeville team has posted in many years."
The coach added, "Chapin continues to show he is one of the premier players in the area. He played the par 5's at 5-under par, including an eagle on 14. Steven had his best round as a Dodger and Nate played a great front nine, finishing with 2 birdies in 3 holes. Ben and Matthew were hoping to break 90 for the day and just fell short."
"All in all, a good golf day for us. It's always great to take a full team to compete in the sectional tournament," Bradley concluded.
