Errors pave the way for Pointer win

Iowa-Grant pitcher Brea Stanton probably deserved better.
She limited the hot hitting Mineral Point Pointers to three earned runs in a seven hitter but there was one problem.
She couldn't overcome the seven errors committed by the Panthers behind her. The Pointers took advantage of the generosity and turned back the Panthers 12-2 in five innings in the D3 Regional final game.
It was the rubber game of sorts as the two teams had split in regular season SWAL action.
The game was never really in doubt after a five run Pointer first. The Panthers had three errors during the frame.
The Pointers added three in the fourth and put the game away in five with a four run fifth.
Beth Wood was her steady self on the mound for the Panthers and fanned seven without issuing a free pass. She spaced four hits and was untouchable except for a two run fourth by the Panthers.
Destinee Kruser was the hitting leader for the Pointers with a 2x3 day at the plate and a double.
Shania Sarbacker was 2x2 to account for half the hits by the Panthers.
Stanton fanned two and walked to as she went the distance for Iowa-Grant.
The win advanced the Pointers to the WIAA Division 3 Sectionals.
