Then, another track and field accomplishment came for a former Dodgeville-Mineral Point runner in Molly Hanson. She qualified for the NCAA Championships with her 1500 meters effort last weekend, running for the University of Wisconsin. It was just about a year ago that she was with me covering the state meet at La Crosse. I guess she won't be helping me this year! Good luck to her at nationals. It couldn't have happened to a nicer girl (woman)! That's Molly above last year interviewing Dodge-Point's Taylor Stanek after she won the Division 2 state high jump.

This Saturday starting at 6:30 a.m. you can have breakfast serve to you at the Bruce Dannenberg farm, located between Mineral Point and Darlington. This will be at the Iowa County Dairy Breakfast. The committee has been working hard on the event as have the Dannenbergs to get their farm in tip top shape for everyone to visit. The price is right at $6.00 for all you can eat and you get to have a lot of fun with many activities and tours going on too!

Besides the state track and the dairy breakfast, Barneveld graduates Saturday morning - the final school in our immediate coverage area. Good luck to all the Barneveld grads!

We had quite the Knights Home Talent baseball game against previously unbeaten Wiota Sunday. The Dodgeville team never lead until the final play of the game when Nic Pierick drove in the winning run with two out in the bottom of the ninth. "Cookie" Clerkin started it with a two out hit and Brandon Weier doubled to send a pinch runner in.

I ran into one of the famous bakery Crubaughs (Chris) at Centennial Park the other day when I was getting the concession stand ready for a ballgame. I warned him of a few upcoming tournaments we would be having in July. He figured out that he was going to be on vacation for at least one of them. Leave it to a Crubaugh to try and get out of some good old fashioned "hard work"!
