Take advantage of free concerts this summer

By Brooke Bechen-bbechen@thedodgevillechronicle.com

On Memorial Day as the sun warmed my skin, I thought to myself, FINALLY! I remember thinking in January that I would NEVER feel the sun shine warmly on my skin again as this last winter gave us all a terrible case of cold weather blues, me being no exception.
As the weather continues to get warmer and more and more of us are looking for things to do outside, consider taking a night or two to listen to three great groups of musicians coming to Dodgeville for Lands' End's Summer Concert Series, held at Harris Park.
In its eighth year, Lands' End is excited to start this year's Summer Concert Series with one of the most distinguished musicians in the Midwest, the Mark Croft Band. Croft finished first in the Midwest Song Contest and was voted Favorite Singer/Songwriter by Isthmus Magazine, along with winning other numerous awards.
The Mark Croft Band will be performing on Wednesday, June 11 at Harris Park from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. In case of rain, the concert will be rescheduled to Thursday, June 12.
The Mark Croft Band is just one band that will be performing for the Summer Concert Series. Mighty WheelHouse and Kids from Wisconsin will also be performing to round out the Summer Concert Series.
If you cannot make it to the first concert in the series, jot these dates down on your calendars: Mighty WheelHouse will be performing Wednesday, June 18 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Kids from Wisconsin will be performing Wednesday, June 25 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., both at Harris Park. For rain dates and other updates, please visit dodgeville.com.
We should feel lucky to have this kind of event in our community! I encourage community members from Dodgeville and the surrounding communities to support this concert series by grabbing a blanket or folding chair and heading to Harris Park to enjoy a free concert or two this summer!
