I almost ran into a vehicle as I was turning right coming out of Point Foods the other day. I waited for a vehicle to pass by the exit I was at, but it stopped to make a left turn into the Pit Stop. Oh, did I mention that vehicle's driver DID NOT turn on its directional!

We received a couple of letters with renewals for the Chronicle recently. Here's what Sally H. Nelson of Burlington, Wisconsin said: "Please tell Pat and Mike that I look forward to receiving the Chronicle each week. I enjoy the news, the 'Along the Ad Route', the short stories - and this past year - the Small Town series, as well as the series on Heroin Addiction and the human interest stories on the final page. I hope my check arrives in time to qualify for the extra month. Keep up the good work!" Then Rose Martin, (a longtime fan and subscriber from Blue River, Wisconsin) said: "Enclosed is the $42.00 for another year of the Chronicle. I'm still managing in my own home, but getting harder. I enjoy Pat's stories. Keep up the good work. I'll be 98 on St. Patrick's Day."

I made a short stop at the Highland Lions Club's annual Fisheree that is held at Blackhawk Lake (between Highland and Cobb) the Sunday between NFL championship games and the Super Bowl. I arrived a little late since I had breakfast with neighbors Jack and Dorothy Weirich - Jack will be 96 in a couple of weeks! Anyway I took a photo of a Rewey group of "fishers" and then was going to head on out farther since the people had left who were closer to shore. When the winds picked up, a good share took off and others got inside where it was warm (even out on the ice). One Rewey fellow (LaVern Naeger) offered to drive me to the more distant places and I gladly accepted. We made a couple more stops and I felt I had enough photos so I told him he could get back to fishing. But, he then took me all the way to my car - another thing I wouldn't turn down as the snow wasn't easy to trudge through!

One reason I'm telling the above story is our Rewey correspondent (Elaine Bunker) usually has a "special person" from Rewey she writes about and I can see why. LaVern probably saved a few months to be added onto my life!

The above photo shows the way I probably should've gotten around at the fisheree on Sunday!

I've had a grumbling Penn State guy stopping in at the Chronicle to yell at me for not giving my "come-uppins". I guess that means that I'm supposed to confess that he won the UW Badgers/Penn State football bet this past fall. And that I had to eat a "humble" pie from my favorite bakery here in Dodgeville!
