Eagles trim up Potosi
"She had an impressive game," said Eagles coach Jim Myers after the non-conference win over a team from the other side of the Six Rivers conference. "When she wasn't scoring she set up others so they could."
No doubt she played a big part in the fact that 10 girls scored for Barneveld in the win.
Rachel Slaney added 10 points and Mia Whitish hit nine to Barneveld's output.
Slaney ran into foul trouble which limited her court time and Mia Whitish, a freshman, had one of her best offensive games of the season.
The Eagles played without starter Mckenzie Sporle who missed the game due to illness.
"We had to adjust to playing without her," Myers said.
The adjustment seemed to work out in Barneveld's favor.
The Eagles ran to a 24-4 first quarter lead, playing some of their best basketball of the season. After that the Eagles went into coast mode.
"We did not keep up the intensity we had at the start," Myers said. "We have to learn to do that."
"After the first quarter we didn't do well at moving our feet on defense and we didn't value the basketball," he said. "We need to do a better job of taking care of ball and we need to work all the time on defense."
"At spurts we played very well and at times we coasted," Myers added. "We played a lot of kids. We want them to be able to come into the game and not have our performance fall off."
MaKenzie Brown led Potosi with 14 points and Maddie Hawes added 10. Only four girls scored for the Lady Chieftains.
