Dodgers start fast, top Platteville
At least it seemed like it when the Dodgeville girls basketball team took a 21-0 lead on Platteville at the end of the first quarter.
Then they led 42-13 at he half.
The final score stood Dodgeville 73 Platteville 43 in a make-up SWC contest Friday night.
Taylor Stanek hit 11 of her 20 points in the first quarter.
Then Megan Zoet took over in period two and scored eight of her 16.
And Kennedy Stumpf came off the bench to score all six of her points in the third frame.
"Our pressure rotation got to them right away," said Dodger coach Josh Busch. "We played very, very well in the first quarter. We finished around the rim and moved the ball well in transition. We had a lot of steals in that first quarter."
"Platteville got some looks, but nothing fell for them," he added. "When they missed, we'd get the rebound and Platteville didn't run with us very well in transition."
Platteville's Cassie Hamer led them with 17 points, but nobody else could manage more than six.
