Threes help Dodgers past Prairie

You could say the rainy weather came inside Thursday night as it was raining threes in the Dodge-ville/Prairie du Chien boys basketball game.
Fan saw 16 field goals come from long range - happily for the host Dodgers 10 went their way. That 12 point differential paved the way to a 60-40 Dodgeville win in the opening SWC contest for both teams.
The Dodgers held a comfortable 16-9 lead after one quarter and saw that margin grow only to eight by halftime at 26-18. Prairie hit a pair of threes down in that frame, but Dodger junior guard Trent Jones nailed a pair on his own to put them up by eight at the break.
Then senior guard Levi Nagel took over n the second half, scoring 10 of his 14 markers.
Even with Prairie changing defenses almost every time down the floor, the Dodgers steadily pulled away in the second half holding margins of 15-11 and 19-11 in the final two frames. They held leads a big as 30.
Jones took game-high honors with 16, that included a pair of treys down the stretch besides his two in period two. Seven of his teammates also reached the scoring column.
Prairie also had eight players score, but nobody reached double figures. Jacob Schneider and Brady Ulrich both hit eight points.
"They were throwing everything they had at us every possession, but we took it and were able to counter," said Dodger coach Ryan Bohnsack. "We hit some big shots tonight . Levi and Trent had some good looks, but we had several others hit big ones too like Jordan Olson, Shane Chapman and Isaac Nagel. Jordan had his best game of the year so far. And we really shared the ball well tonight."
"Now we have to get ready to go on the road," Bohnsack said.
Their next game is at Lancaster Friday night.
"We're playing consistent, concentrated defense right now," he added. "Our goal is to hold teams under 50 points."
