Stanek becomes all time scoring leader in win
The shot eclipsed the previous career point total of 1141 set by Rachel Pope. Pope is now a key player at Edgewood College.
Stanek went on to total 24 points, fire in four three pointers and lead the Dodgers to a 59-45 win over the Blackhawks in the SWC opener for both teams.
Freshman guard Hannah Jones also got into double figures for the Dodgers with 11.
Stanek had a steady scoring effort with seven points the first quarter, five the second, eight in the third and four in the fourth. Her first quarter effort, along with four by Kennedy Stumpf, sent the Dodgers to a 19-10 lead and they never looked back.
"We were balanced and consistent all night," said coach Mark Dooley of the easy win by the Dodgers. "The girls played really well."
"Prairie du Chien is a physical team and played hard," Dooley continued. "They hurt us a little on the offensive boards."
Brooke Trautsch led Prairie with 15 points.
"We were pretty solid," Dooley added. "We are showing improvement each time out."
The Dodgers are at Lancaster Friday.
