have arrived home from Afghanistan just in time for the holidays. Samantha
Arnold, Tom Sigg and Louis Neal are home for good too! We will have
more on them in the form of a story soon!

Saturday was the annual Dodgeville Federated Woman's Club's annual
Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus that is held at the Dodgeville Plymouth
Congregational Church. I had the privilege of being asked to be a "Guest
Chef". Luckily (for those eating) I didn't do any cheffing! The only thing I
really cook at home is a frozen pizza or a TV dinner now and then! There
were plenty of chefs to do what needed to be done in the kitchen so I
roamed around and took a bunch of photos. I also got drinks for people as
they came in, served a bunch of pancakes and sausage and even grabbed
desserts for people who either were a little older, were somewhat handicapped
or were just pretty young. Then afterwards being a Dodgeville Lions
Club member came in handy - I stacked a lot of chairs on carts in the storage
room. I used to do a lot of that at the flea market and antique show,
farmers appreciation day and even at the schools! It was a fun morning. I
got to meet a lot of people, run into some old friends and just plain have a
good time!

I didn't mean to make it sound like I did all of the above by myself - there
was plenty of help around - until the end that is and it was clean up time!

This Sunday, from 1-2:30 p.m. Santa and yours truly will be at the
Dodgeville Senior Center for "Photos with Santa" - the last time this season.
Stop in and talk with the "jolly old fellow" and have some punch and
cookies on the senior center people. I will take as many photos as you order
and all you have to do is bring in a non-perishable food item that I will give
to the Iowa County Food Pantry. Come on down!

Be sure and check out all the ads, correspondence and update notices for
what is going on in the area this coming week. With Christmas right around
the corner, Santa will be a a lot of places and there will be a lot of fun events
taking place!

This Saturday is the second and final "Santa's Secret Shop" at Hill's Pub
(Formerly Thym's) just north of Dodgeville. It runs from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
and is for kid's only! There are elves who will help you with your shopping
and the gift(s) will be wrapped and labeled too! Your parent can wait
upstairs for you and will be surprised how many gift you can get for just a
little amount of money. It's worth the trip by far!

Don't forget to "Shop Locally" for as much as you can. A good amount of
money stays right here in the local community and is recycled from business
to business!
