For those who have not noticed the political season is upon us.
For us at The Dodgeville Chronicle this means we receive letters every week endorsing the writer's favorite candidate. This is good if it isn't abused but so often the writer is not from here and the words in the letter are the same if different writers send it.
So, we are forced to introduce a new policy which should make it fair for all.
We will accept political endorsement letters until the September 11 issue. We will print those that are not duplicated.
After September 11 political endorsements will have to be placed as paid advertisements. That way it will be fair for all candidates and writers.
Many area papers do not print endorsement letters. But we feel it is a person's right to express their feelings so we are allowing that to happen for two more issues.
