Led by Beth Wood, eight area softball players were named to the 2014 Telegraph Herald All-Area team.
Wood, a senior from Mineral Point, was one of three pitchers selected to the first-team.
She posted an 18-4 record with a miniscule 0.53 earned run average; striking out 173 and walking 16 in 144.3 innings.
Four players were tabbed second-team selections; Brea Stanton and Kylie Moneypenny, each from Iowa-Grant, and Haile Schmitz and Paula Pittz, both from Mineral Point.
Stanton is a junior pitcher, Moneypenny is a junior infielder, Schmitz is a senior infielder, and Pittz is a senior utility player.
Honorable mention selections went to Clara Chambers from Mineral Point, and Taylor Jackson and Brittanie Lawinger, both from Iowa-Grant.
