Who would've ever thought that the UW Badgers men's basketball team would be in the final four? They played great the start of the season and then went into a funk, but rebounded big time to end the regular season. Then, in the NCAAâTournament, they have played spectacularly (if you needed one word to describe them). Junior Frank Kaminsky has played like a 7-foot guard, forward and center. He has truly been remarkable. But, they play like a complete team with others contributing on each play on both ends of the court and making big baskets when they need to. And Bo Ryan, Cobb's own Greg Gard, and the rest of the coaching staff has really gotten them ready for each game in a big way!âWhat will happen in the Final Four? Any way you look at it, the Badgers will be one of he top four in a field that began the season totaling about 350 - that's a pretty good spot to be in!

Wisconsin is the only Big 10 team to reach the Final Four with Michigan State and Michigan both losing Sunday in the "Elite Eight". But, boy will they have their hands full with Kentucky Saturday. But they have found ways against some teams people wouldn't have given them a plug nickel of a chance!

The Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce is still looking for vendors to be on the street Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 21-22-23 for a sidewalk sale just before schools begin. Bill Wall, at Kozekla Wall, is the contact person.

It's possible there have been some softball, baseball and/or soccer games played around the area by the time this column is read. We've had a nice warm-up, but there is still snow and frost to deal with and then there's supposed to be rain several days this week. When golf will be able to start on the courses is anyone's guess!

The Dodgeville Lions Club is holding its first annual "Fun Night"âSaturday, April 12 at the Dodger Bowl. It is a fundraiser for the organization with tickets being $50 each - that includes a meal and a 1 in 50 chance of getting your money back in a drawing plus a 1st prize drawing of $3000. There are other prizes and drawings that night as well as other raffles and auctions. It promises to be an entertaining evening. Tickets are about sold out, so if you want one contact a Lions member. Oh, and the Lions Club spent three days last week testing youngsters for vision problems at our schools and they are working on a Lions Park to be located near the middle school in the subdivision out there.

Last week HiddenâValley Church on the east side of Dodgeville hosted a "Feed My Starving Children" event with people from their congregation, school children and a lot of other volunteers helping out. Above is a photo of one young girl scooping up rice from a huge container to be distributed to the sections for placement in small bags.

Pretty much immediately following Sunday's Kentucky/Michigan NCAA "Elite Eight" game (won by Kentucky) if you went onto Google search and put in "Final Four", you would've gotten #2 Wisconsin playing #8 Wisconsin on Saturday. At that point there was a GREAT BET the Badgers would be in the Monday finals for sure! Google corrected it shortly after putting Kentucky by the #8. It just goes to show you - you can't always believe everything you see on the internet!
