Dodgeville's young volleyball team has scrapped its way into improvement the past few matches and Saturday was another high point.
The Dodgers finished 2-1 in their pool at the Iowa-Grant Tournament and went on to grab third place with a thrilling win over Portage.
The Dodgers lost to host Iowa-Grant in the championship semi-finals. West Salem then defeated the Panthers in the title game as the Dodgers went three games with Portage for their stunning win.
West Salem beat the Dodgers in the opening round 25-17, 25-20.
Brooke Lee registered six kills and a block for the Dodgers. Taylor Stanek had five kills and Alexa Bohnsack added two more.
Lee had 10 digs while Kara Crowley and Courtney Cushman had five each with Stanek and Bohnsack each getting four.
Kara Crowley had 12 assists.
Bohnsack had three aces with Lee and Samantha Crowley both contributing one.
The Dodgers then got past Mineral Point in three sets.
Scores were 21-25, 25-12, 17-15.
Lee and Stanek had 11 kills each with Lee adding three blocks and a pair of aces.
Bohnsack had five kills and four aces along with 13 digs.
Kara Crowley had 20 assists and Cushman 12 digs.
In their third round the Dodgers swept Seneca 25-23 and 25-11.
Lee had 10 kills, five blocks, six digs and an ace.
Stanek had seven kills and Bramlett three blocks.
Kara Crowley had 20 assists and four aces.
Iowa-Grant turned back the Dodgers in two sets in the championship round, 25-22 and 25-18.
Bohnsack had six kills, two aces and six digs. Lee had five kills, two blocks and five digs. Stanek had four kills and five digs.
Kara Crowley dished out 13 assists and had a pair of aces.
Cushman also had four digs for the Dodgers.
In the third place match vs Portage the Dodgers won 25-19, 22-25 and 17-15.
Lee had a dozen kills, two blocks and an ace.
Stanek added eight kills, Bohnsack seven and Bramlett five.
Kara Crowley and Bramlett both had two blocks.
Cushman came up with 16 digs, Stanek and Samantha Crowley had 13 each, Bohnsack added 11 and Kara Crowley 10.
Kara Crowley had 28 assists.
