The Packers did have a real plus in the running game with Franklin getting over 100 yards - that's two already in this season and I don't think they had a 100 yard rusher in any game last season. But, then the rush was the eventual downfall when a fumble happened and the ball was returned for a touchdown. And, on that play, what could go wrong did. The ball came out and a Packer tackled the guy who recovered the fumble, but he in turn fumbled and another guy recovered it for the Bengals and went to the house! In the first place, without a big running back, I don't know why they didn't fake up the middle and Rodgers go around end??? But, I'm not the coach!

Enough on the Packers - the Badgers sure did play well though. their quarterback, Joel Stave, still has some things to work on - like hitting wide open receivers - but he played pretty well. And talk about a running game - wow!

I made a trip to Prairie du Chien Saturday afternoon and was stopped by a train crossing in front of me on Blackhawk Avenue. I stopped, but the woman across from me kept on going and the arm that comes down just missed the back of her car. That would've been something if it had hit her car. I checked and she had a WISCONSIN license plate!

Last Wednesday I was on the telephone at the Chronicle while I was stuffing newspapers. Someone came in to pick up their already labeled paper and I had to point out where they were located. At the same time another person came in for a counter copy and I didn't have them on the counter, so I pointed to where they were located. He was having trouble finding that pile and I stopped my conversation on the phone and said "they are back there" - and pointed better. He said, "You don't make a very good pointer." I replied, "I was born a Dodger!"

Here's a couple of events to attend north of Dodgeville. The Otter Creek Lutheran Church will hold its Fall Auction with lunch from 11-1 and auction at 1:00 on Saturday. And St. Philip & Anthony Church in Highland will be holding its Octoberfest on Sunday with food and a BIG pumpkin weigh off around noon.
