We had a pretty good tourney, especially surprising to go 3-0 to win our pool," said coach Marla Simon. "Then we miss the championship match by two points in our crossover match loss against Hilbert. We still had a good finish for fourth, despite being without my two middle hitters, Kaci Myers and Kylie Moneypenny (for concussion injuries.)
"We are a young team in some pretty key areas, like setting, so I wasn't sure what the whole day would bring. We definitely have a lot of work and learning to do, but it was a pretty good start for this group. "
" I felt Ashley Liddicoat was very consistent server for us and also as a hitter, and was a leader out there without our two middles," Simon said. "Kristin Bingham, our sophomore setter, worked very hard all day and did a good job taking on this tough role. She also showed up to do well at the service line, as well as Taylor Jackson - a strong showing serving and playing a very consistent back row all day."
"Rheann Engelke did a nice job to lead the team with digs and was also strong at the service line, especially against Wausaukee.
"Emma Liddicoat, filled in as a freshman in the middle hitter spot, along with junior Georgie Faull and both did a nice job at the net."
"So, overall it was a good tourney to see where we are at and what we need to do," Simon said. "We were a little shaky starting out at serving but really did a pretty good job all day with this. Now just have to get everyone healthy and work on putting the ball away."
