Sunday was a well decent day for both the Ridgeway and Highland Labor Day celebrations. The parade at Ridgeway attracted a good crowd as did the rest of the day's events. Highland's always great chicken B-B-Q sells out pretty fast and the park provides great entertainment for the kids "no matter what age"!

Congratulations to the Dodgeville-Mineral Point girls cross country team. The XCnation national pre-season rankings have them as the 6th ranked team among Division 2 schools NATIONALLY - only 2 teams from New York and one each from Delaware, New Jersey and Florida are in front of them. Also, the Arrowhead High School girls team, a Division 1 program in Wisconsin, is ranked 23rd nationally with the top 25 overall ranked teams mentioned on the website.

While I'm on sports, congratulations also to the Dodgeville football team for beating Platteville Friday night. The Hillmen were ranked pretty high in the polls before that game! The Dodgers put in a lot of off-season work and maybe it has paid off for them!

This weekend festivals point to the southeast of us when Hollandale's HOMECOMING and Jonesdale's FIELD DAYS both take place. Hollandale always features a big "homecoming" parade plus a lot of activities for the alumni on Saturday. And you can trap shoot at Jonesdale and have a lot of fun at their ball park on Saturday and Sunday. There's Texas Hold 'em, chicken B-B-Q, ball games and more!

Another "blast from the past" event will be the annual Plow/Plant Days at Peck's Farm Market on Highway 14, Spring Green on Saturday and Sunday, September 7 & 8. It's a good educational event to see how it was done years ago!

Don't forget about the Linden United Methodist Church's Harvest Home Auction on Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 p.m. It's a fun time stocking up on things you can really use!

Think about attending the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce's first "Off the Vine Wine Tasting event on Friday, Ocober 18th - the same weekend as the annual Fall Art Tour that runs through the Dodgeville and Spring Green area, starting in either Baraboo or Mineral Point and ending at either one!
