Dodge-Point XC competes at tough tourney
There were varsity, junior varsity and freshman/sophomore races for both the boys and girls teams, so the groups were divided up so the varsity squads were not the same as usual.
The girls varsity finished 10th overall out of 37 teams with 308 points.
Arrowhead won with 90, just ahead of Neenah's 92.
Hannah Owens was her team's top finisher at taking 7th in 14:48, Then came Brittany Rhyner 37th in 15:37, Mikaela Bakker 73rd in 16:30, Emily Philipps 89th in 16:46, Mary Hanson 102nd in 16:57, Kennedy Stumpf 126th in 17:18 and Megan Hottmann 145th in 17:42.
Dodge-Point coach Denny McGraw talked about his varsity saying, "The Varsity Girls team placed 10th out of 33 teams. Hannah Owens ran with the lead pack the entire race finishing a strong 7th with a time of 14:48. She is looking relaxed and to see her running with such an elite group is very exciting."
In a reversal of the varsity race, the JV race found Neenah beating Arrowhead 32-55.
Dodge-Point finished a respectable 5th out of 28 teams and 565 runners.
Anna Eisenzimmer took second overall in 16:21, followed by Kylie Greenheck 18th in 17:26, Tessa Solberg 25th in 17:34, Shianne Carroll 32nd in 17:51, Brittany Walczak 58th in 18:21, Mikalah Enright 86th in 18:59 and Drew Sandstrom 115th in 19:44.
"The JV Girls team placed 5th out 28 teams," said McGraw. "Anna Eisenzimmer has been battling injuries and it was great to see her place 2nd with a time of 16:21. She is regaining her strength and we look forward to seeing her back on varsity where she will be a help to the team."
Other D-P finishes were: Megan Zoet 263rd 20:10, Melissa Seman 275th 20:17, Josie Jewell 532nd 25:04 and Diana Dochnahl 548h 26:39.
The freshman/sophomore race saw Dodge-Point finishing 11th out of 20 teams.
McKenzie Hall took 19th in 16:38 with Claire Baldus 54th in 17:36, Mariah Zoet 68th in 17:53, Jorie Driscoll 77th in 18:07, Alexis Bauer 80th in 18:14 and Katie Dochnahl 121st in 20:00.
"The Freshmen/Sophomore Girls team placed 11th out of 20 teams led by MacKenzie Hall who ran a 16:38 for 19th place. As a freshmen she is starting to look more confident in the races and is looking to move up on varsity in the near future," McGraw pointed out.
In the boys varsity race, Monroe won with 150 points with La Crosse Logan runner-up with 156.
Dodgeville-Mineral Point finished 21st out of the 32 teams with 676 points.
Tyler Wunnicke led taking 30th in 16:55 with Tanner Cullen 176th in 18:42, Brandon Forseth 177th in 18:42, Jake Riley 187th in 18:45, Jack Schickel 190th in 18:48, Luke Davis 195th in 18:51, Tannler Ames 202nd in 18:55.
McGraw said about his varsity boys, "The Varsity Boys team placed 32nd out of 38 teams. Tyler Wunnicke continues to be a strong leader for the team placing 30th with a time of 16:53. In this tough competition that is a huge accomplishment."
In the JV meet, Wisconsin Lutheran won with 50 points to Arrowhead's 78.
Dodge-Point was 21st out of 32 teams and 712 runners with 676 points.
Chanler Leonard took 77th in 19:22 followed by Cory Fitzsimmons 139th in 20:49, Preston Phillips 144th in 20:55, Caleb Byers 155th in 21:26, Chance Whitlach 160th in 21:30, Dalton Nohns 166th in 21:48, Tristan Wilkins 207th in 24:08.
Other finishes were: Bobby McNeill 649th 25:30, Bailey Riley 678th 27:30, Aaron Ramthun 680th 27:34, Reid Suddeth 684th 27:44, Brenyn Schmit 687th 27:57, Henry Luitjens 60th in 20:23, Hunter Blalock 137th in 20:56, Hayden Phillips 151st in 21:45, Trevor Ross 157th in 22:21, Conner Trocke 164th in 22:57.
"The JV Boys team placed 21st out of 32 teams. Chanler Leonard was the top finisher for Dodge-Point. He made a nice surge at the end to out kick many runners," said the coach.
In the freshman/sophomore mmet, Dodge-Point finished 22nd out of 27 teams with 609 points.
Nathan Eisenzimmer led taking 95th in 19:56 followed by Stewart Thompson 106th in 20:05, Ty Driscoll 120th in 20:23, Hunter Blalock 137th in 20:56, Hayden Phillips 151st in 21:45, Trevor Ross 157th in 22:21 and Conner Trocke 164th in 22:57.
"Freshmen/Sophomore Boys team placed 22nd out of 27 teams," McGraw said. "The lead boy for Dodge-Point in this race was Nate Eisenzimmer. He ran a solid race and is showing improvement each week."
The Dodge-Point teams go to the Platteville Invitational Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m..
"We hope to see a nice crowd supporting our runners," McGraw said.
