Thought to say thank you

By J. Patrick Reilly-preilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com

My mother was right most of the time.
OK, she was right all the time.
One thing I remember her telling me often was to remember to say "Thank You." If I ever forgot, she was there to remind me.
Perhaps the biggest thank you I have ever given was a few years ago while standing in front of the Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC. I looked at the names....way too many of them....and I went through the tattered book that was placed there to help find panels of people on the wall you had come to see.
I found way too many of them. People I served with. People I knew who were called to serve, went to Vietnam and never came back.
I stood at the wall and my eyes filled with tears. I didn't know what to say.
Then I remembered.
I said "Thank You."
==========
November 11 is Veteran's Day. There are many among us who have served in various wars, conflicts and in peacetime. They deserve our thanks.
I will start by saying again..."Thank You."
