I've come back home!
By Brooke Bechen-bbechen@thedodgevillechronicle.com
After finishing up college last year, I had the opportunity to come work for the Dodgeville Chronicle. I couldn't have wished for a better first job after receiving my education. There were many things I was excited about, but the main one was that I got to come back "home."
All through high school I was bored, could never find anything to do in this town, whined that nothing exciting ever happened here, etc. But upon returning to Dodgeville as an adult, things began to interest me that hadn't interested me before and I began uncovering things I hadn't known when I was just a bored kid attending high school.
Since I began working at the Chronicle, I have learned a lot about the city I grew up in, a lot of things I hadn't known or even noticed because I was just a kid back then. I've taken interest in many of the city's events, local businesses, community members and city politics (Thanks Mayor Todd).
This weekend I moved back to Dodgeville after six years away. I brought along with me my better half, Jamie, and our sassy cat, Blazer. So far, we're adjusting pretty well. And I'm actually enjoying how quiet Dodgeville is!
I'm ready to dive in further and explore the city I once disliked in high school. I'm ready to investigate every corner of Iowa County as an official Iowa County resident. Everyone has a story to tell and I want to hear it all.
As a Dodgeville resident now, I hope to meet many of you, maybe share a 'hello' when shopping at Piggly Wiggly or a wave as I'm cruising out to Governor Dodge State Park. I'm really happy to say I've come back home!
