It sure was a busy and hectic weekend. It began Thursday night when I had to set up the concession stand at Centennial Park for a Night League Home Talent game with Black Earth. Then, Dodgeville High School hosted Richland Center Friday night in a play-off game and that was immediately followed by a regular "Sunday" (9 inning) Home Talent game with Ridgeway. Crowds were pretty big for both Friday games. We went through a lot of food and beverage at the stand. Oh, and I made it to the Highland baseball play-off game before getting back to Centennial Park to finish setting up the stand. Then, Saturday afternoon there was another Home Talent "Sunday" game against Monroe. I set up the stand and then headed to Highland for graduation. I got back to Dodgeville just as the game ended! Sunday found me at Dodgeville's graduation. Monday morning I made it to Cobb's Memorial Day commemoration that was held inside at the community building. When I got back to Dodgeville, it was time for the Dodgeville parade and commemoration at the Courthouse Memorial. It was pretty foggy going to and from Cobb, but it lifted for Dodgeville's event.

After Dodgeville's Memorial Day event was through I received a call from my "like a daughter" Sarah (Fry) Alsaker. She and two of her kids - Kit and Weston - were heading to Dodgeville to visit some gravesites and meet up with her sister Jenn and mother Jane. We met at Nadler's A&W and had a bite to eat. She commented on how good the burger was! Oh, and her husband (Jeremy) works at and sets up Dunkin' Donuts spots. They are planning to open in Platteville in August. So, she brought me a few of the donuts. I still think Crubaugh's are better, but don't tell Sarah I said that - and don't tell the Crubaughs either!

I think Highland's 2013 graduation will be one for the graduates to remember. First of all, former administrator David Romstad attended and was recognized with the 50 year Highland graduates as he graduated in 1963, but not from Highland. He was named an honorary member of the 1963 Highland graduating class. Secondly, the Highland Valedictorian, Emily Drews, got up to speak and nobody could find her speech. She was getting set to "wing" it when Principal Josh Tarrell went over to her father and found the speech (or maybe it was a copy). See her photo (above) before the speech was found. Thirdly, when the recessional began to be played (You're Gonna Miss This) from a CD, the sound really dragged. They tried to fix it and by the third try it sounded like it should sound. Those three things should stick in people's minds for awhile!

I went to Waterloo (yes that's Iowa) a week ago to see son Michael. I knew he had worked the night before and had to work that Saturday night, but I hadn't seen him in a while and had never seen his house. He slept in until around 3:30 p.m. and then got up and showered just about when I arrived. His wife Jolisa has just about completed her probationary period as a police officer in Muscatine, Iowa and he has accepted a job with HyVee (early June) there. He works as Night Manager at HyVee in Waterloo now. So they will be moving about two hours from Waterloo. They will rent their house for a time and probably rent in Muscatine. Anyway, we had a good meal at a sports bar and watched the Preakness and we had a good visit, catching up on a lot of things!
