Dodgers find a way

Austin Larson has been swinging a pretty hot bat for the Dodgeville baseball team.
Travis Hendrickson's bat has been battling through a minor slump.
Those two junior players combined for a big run Monday---the one that won the SWC game 5-4 over Prairie du Chien--and gave the Dodgers a much needed with over the Blackhawks.
Larson singled to open the bottom of the seventh with both teams knotted at 4-4. After Nick Crowley walked, Brian Simmons drove a deep fly to right that allowed Larson to tag and go to third.
That left the winning run 90 feet from the plate and the bat in Hendrickson's hands.
That was where he wanted it to be.
With a 1-1 count Hendrickson dropped a suicide bunt in front of the plate as Larson was bearing down attempting to score.
Mission accomplished.
Larson played a big role in the win other than scoring the final run. He tied the game in the bottom of the first with a home run over the right field fence. He then singled in Jasper Meeker who had singled and moved up on Brett Binsfeld's bunt to make it 3-1. He finished the game 3x4 with two runs scored.
Logan Yeager singled, stole second, advanced to third and scored on an errant throw.
The Dodgers took a 4-3 lead in the sixth when Brycen Pratt reached on a fielders choice and scored on a Meeker single.
Prairie tied it in the top of the seventh, 4-4.
Meeker went the distance for the win. He spaced eight hits, fanned two and walked two,
The Dodgers host Lancaster tonight in a double header and travel to Platteville Friday. Monday they host Mount Horeb and Tuesday River Valley.
